Speaker Mics and Shoulder Mics for Two Way Radios

A remote speaker microphone, often called a shoulder mic or speaker mic, moves your radio audio up to your collar so you can hear traffic and transmit without pulling the radio off your belt. It is the most common accessory on a commercial fleet, and the right one comes down to how loud your environment is and how rugged the job gets.

How to choose a speaker mic

• Noise level. Loud sites need high speaker output and a windporting mic that shields against wind and rain. Quieter roles can run a smaller, lighter unit.
• Size. Large shoulder mics push more volume and are easier to find by feel with gloves on. Small remote speaker microphones sit closer to the body and stay out of the way.
• Ingress rating. IP67 and IP68 models handle dust and submersion. IP57 is suited to general indoor and light outdoor work.
• Connector. Speaker microphones are not universal. Match the mic to your exact radio model before ordering.
