Current Motorola radio trade-in and rebate offers
Updated October 5, 2026: the R Series trade-in purchase window has ended. The offer previously shown here ran from May 18 to October 3, 2026. It is no longer advertised as available for new orders. A Q4 extension or replacement offer has not been confirmed on this page.
Already placed a qualifying order? Contact us with your invoice before sending trade-in radios. The purchase deadline and the deadline for returning old units are separate, and your order must follow its original program terms. How Motorola trade-in programs work
Motorola Solutions periodically offers promotions on eligible business radios through its dealer channel. A trade-in program can reduce the cost of replacing an older fleet, but eligibility comes from the written terms for that specific event. An old promotion page, a competitor banner, or a previous quote does not establish that an offer is active today.
Start with the communications system your team needs. Then ask whether a confirmed manufacturer program applies to that order. A promotion is useful when the eligible model fits the site, the quantity matches your rollout, and the return process is practical. Buying an unsuitable radio to meet a promotion requirement can cost more than the original savings.
Quantity and invoice rules
Some programs use purchase increments and require a matching number of eligible trade-ins. The ended 2026 R Series event shown here used groups of ten radios from the same series on one invoice, with an equal number of old units. Those are historical terms, not a promise about the next program. Before ordering, confirm the qualifying quantity, whether models or series can be mixed, which invoice dates count, and whether multiple sites can participate together.
Ask for a written quote that identifies the manufacturer program, eligible equipment, and required paperwork. Keep the invoice and approval documents together so the fleet owner can follow the return process after delivery.
Which old radios qualify?
Eligibility varies. An offer may accept certain business portable radios or broadband push-to-talk devices and exclude consumer radios, mobiles, scanners, or other equipment. Do not assume an old unit qualifies because it has a Motorola logo, operates on the same band, or still powers on. Send us the model numbers and quantities so we can check them against the applicable terms.
For a mixed fleet, make a simple inventory with model, band, condition, and quantity. Keep accessories separate until the program's return instructions say what to include. Do not ship radios to a manufacturer or distributor without the correct destination and reference information.
Purchase dates and return deadlines
A purchase window determines when a new order must qualify. A return deadline determines when the old units must arrive. There may also be registration or claim deadlines. These dates are not interchangeable. For an order placed during the ended event, our team can help check the paperwork and the applicable return instructions. We are not publishing an unconfirmed return deadline or assuming that late orders qualify.
Plan a fleet refresh that fits your operation
Before comparing offers, list where coverage falls short, which radios are failing, and how staff use the system. Consider the buildings, outdoor areas, shift lengths, accessories, and whether the new units must communicate with an existing fleet. Check licensed frequencies and programming needs before selecting replacement hardware.
Explore the Motorola R2 series, Motorola R5 series, and Motorola R7 series. Our R7 vs R2 guide explains the selection tradeoffs. The discontinued radio reference can help identify older models. Compatibility and availability should be checked for the exact configuration on your quote.
A phased rollout can keep working units in service while staff learn the replacements. If a future trade-in event requires returning those same units, build that return into the rollout schedule. Keep enough radios available for each shift and test coverage before retiring the old fleet.
