1. Slide the latch at the top of the battery door to unlock, and lift the door at the center recess.
2. Align the battery contacts with the tabs, insert the contact side first, then press down to seat it.
3. Put the door back on and slide the latch to lock.

• On: press and hold Power until you hear the power-up tone and the LED blinks. The radio announces the current channel and battery level.
• Off: press and hold Power until the power-down tone plays.
• Volume: tap Volume Up or Down. There are 16 steps. Hold Volume Up for two seconds to jump to max.
• Mute: hold Volume Down for two seconds until you hear "Mute."

Short press the Power button while the radio is on. It announces the current battery level: high, medium, low, or critical.

Private Reply lets two people connect privately right after a group transmission. The Top button is set to Private Reply by default.

1. While someone is talking to the group, press the Top button to capture their radio ID. The Top LED blinks orange and you hear "Private Reply."
2. When they finish, press PTT. The Top LED turns solid orange and both radios hear a distinct Private Talk Permit Tone.
3. Either person presses PTT to keep the private conversation going. Nobody else hears it.

Direct Call rings a specific pre-programmed user privately, even if they are not currently talking. Set it up once in CPS, then assign it to the Top button or a channel.

1. Press the Top button. The radio announces "Private <Name>" and the Top LED blinks orange.
2. Press PTT to connect. Both Top LEDs go solid orange and the other radio hears "Private."
3. Talk back and forth with PTT. Hold the Top button to end.

Call All Available pulls every user who is not already in a conversation into a temporary "super channel," without interrupting ongoing calls. Program it to the Top button or a channel in CPS.

1. Press the Top button (or switch to the assigned channel). You hear "Call All Available."
2. Press PTT and talk. Everyone free on any channel hears you and can reply to the whole group.

Page All Available is a one-way voice announcement to all available users on other channels. The only way to answer a page is with a Private Reply.

1. Press the Top button, or switch to the channel programmed for Page All Available.
2. Press PTT and make your announcement. Free users on any channel hear it.
3. A recipient presses their Top button to queue a Private Reply, then PTT to answer you privately.

The Talk Permit Tone (TPT) is the quick double beep after you press PTT. It confirms the channel is clear and keeps people from talking over each other. Always wait for it to finish before speaking.

Scan monitors your channels and stops on the first active one so you can listen and reply without switching channels manually. Enable the Scan menu in CPS first.

1. Press the Menu button to reach the Scan menu. You hear the current scan state.
2. Press Volume Up or Down to enable or disable scan.

1. Add contacts to the Favorite Contact List in CPS.
2. On the radio, press and hold the Menu button to open the list.
3. Use Volume Up or Down to pick a contact, then press PTT for a private call.

Real Time Alert broadcasts an emergency signal to all available radios. Assign it to a programmable button in CPS.

• Send: long press the Top button. The radio sends three cycles of alert and the LED blinks double red then solid green.
• Receive: the radio plays an alert tone and announces "Attention! Attention! A situation requires immediate attention!"
• Cancel: hold the Top button. You hear "Real Time Alert over." It also auto-cancels after the three cycles.

Task Reminder plays a repeating tone when a timer you set expires. Configure the interval in CPS (5, 10, or 15 minute intervals up to 30 minutes).

1. Press Menu to reach the Task Reminder menu.
2. Press Volume Up or Down to pick a timer. Any value other than Disabled starts it immediately.
3. Short press Power to stop the reminder tone.

Auto Power Off shuts a radio down after it sits in a powered charger, 180 seconds by default. Contact your dealer to change either timer.

Every radio in a fleet should share the same 4-digit PROFILE ID (0000 to 9999). Changing it away from the default 0000 stops nearby radios from interfering with your team.

1. Turn the radio off. Hold PTT + Volume Up + Power until you hear "Programming Mode. Press Menu button to continue."
2. Press Channel/Menu until you hear the PROFILE ID option ("default is 0000").
3. Press Volume Up or Down to enter the sub-menu, then set each of the four digits with Volume Up/Down.
4. Press Channel/Menu to move to the next digit. After the fourth digit, the radio reads back the new PROFILE ID.
5. Long press PTT to save and exit.

In Advanced Configuration Mode, press Channel/Menu to reach each option, then Volume Up/Down to change it.

• Maximum Channels: limit how many channels are selectable (Curve supports up to 10).
• Home Channel: set a default channel the radio returns to after 7 seconds of no activity. Default is Disabled. Skip this if your team switches channels often.

Top button options: Private Reply (default), Direct Call*, Call All Available, Page All Available, Mute, Real Time Alert, or Disabled. In Advanced Configuration Mode, reach the Top Button option and cycle choices with Volume Up/Down.

MIC Gain: Low, Medium (default), or High. Only change it if others say you are too loud or too quiet.

To reset to factory defaults, hold PTT + Volume Up + Volume Down + Power together. You hear reset beeps and the battery/channel announcement.

You need: the CPS software and the CPS Programming Cable Kit HKKN4027, plus a Single-Unit Charger.

1. Set the switch on the programming cable to the Digital position (older cables: "Flash").
2. Seat the radio in the drop-in charger tray and connect the CPS cable from the charger to your computer's USB port.
3. Open CPS, click the RADIO tab, then Read Radio. The radio plays tones as it uploads its profile.
4. Make your changes, then click Write to radio. CPS confirms when programming succeeds.

• Direct Call: upload each target's 12-digit private ID under Privates (Advanced), name them, and CPS enables the feature.
• Public groups: add group IDs (Direct Call groups are Public Group 21 to 100) and save the profile for reuse across a fleet.
• PROFILE ID & Home Channel: set a fleet PROFILE ID and pick a home channel and mode.
• Channel names & voice prompts: alias each channel and import your own .wav voice prompt.
• Advanced Config & basic menu: choose which features users can reach from the radio buttons.
• Lockdown: disable Factory Reset and Advanced Config, and password-protect profiles.

The MUC clones up to two pairs at once. Read pockets left to right with the Motorola logo facing you. Source goes in pockets 1 and 2, Target in pockets 4 and 5. The MUC does not need to be plugged in for cloning.

1. Turn on the Target radio and place it in a target pocket (4 or 5).
2. Turn on the Source radio into cloning mode: hold PTT + Volume Down for three seconds until you hear "Cloning Mode, Serial." Place it in the paired source pocket (1 or 2).
3. Press the + button. The radio announces "Pass" or "Fail."
4. Hold PTT to exit cloning mode.

You need: the Cloning Cable Kit HKKN4028 and two Single-Unit Chargers.

1. Turn both radios off. Unplug the SUCs, then connect the cloning cable's mini-USB ends between the two SUCs.

3. Turn on the Source radio into cloning mode (hold PTT + Volume Down for three seconds).
4. Place the Source radio in its SUC, then press and release Volume Up. You hear "Pass" or "Fail."
5. Press Power or hold PTT to exit.

Wireless PROFILE ID cloning copies just the PROFILE ID to the fleet while preserving each radio's own Top button, MIC gain, and name. Perfect when you have no cable or PC.

1. Power the Source into Serial cloning mode, then press Volume Down to switch to "Wireless."
2. Power each Target into Serial cloning mode.
3. Press Volume Up on the Source. Both radios announce "Pass" or "Fail."

1. Confirm both batteries are fully charged and seated properly.
2. Check the cloning cable is connected to both SUCs and the switch is set to cloning.
3. Clear any debris from the charging tray and radio contacts, and make sure contact is firm.

Curve, DLR, and DTR radios share the same digital technology and work together in mixed fleets. Out of the box they communicate on factory defaults. If your DLR or DTR radios use custom settings or private groups, use the Curve CPS to build a matching configuration.

The Curve is restricted to occupational use to meet FCC RF energy exposure requirements. It operates in the license-free 900 MHz ISM band under FCC Part 15 and ISED license-exempt rules. Read the enclosed Product Safety and RF Exposure booklet before use.

• Charge only Motorola Solutions authorized batteries, with a Motorola Solutions charger.
• Keep the battery near 77°F (25°C). Charging below 50°F or above 95°F harms the battery.
• Shallower discharges (around 25%) last far more cycles than deep 100% discharges.
• Recycle Li-ion batteries through Call2Recycle (call2recycle.org or 1-800-8-BATTERY). Do not landfill them.
